caps for sale! (updated)

(originally published 4/08/12)

i think hats are dreadful. my mum keeps trying to get me to wear hats. she says that i really need to wear hats to protect my skin and my eyes. sometimes if i'm out in the sun for a bit and my mum puts a hat on me, i'll keep it on. but if she puts a hat on me when i'm inside, i pull that thing right off! hats inside? what's the purpose in being uncomfortable unnecessarily?! this is not to say that i'm always agreeable when it comes to wearing a hat outside, either, but i'm definitely more likely to keep a hat on if it is actually serving a purpose. PLEASE NOTE: my mum keeps me bathed in 50 SPF sunscreen, so please don't worry over my skin just yet. it's OK to worry over my eyes, but my parents are hopeful that i'll be able to regularly wear hats and/or sunglasses soon. if not, then daily-wear UV contact lenses are on my birthday wish-list.

i'll be adding old and new photos of myself in hats, so return often. i keep hearing about this book "caps for sale" that my mum knew as a child. she says she recalls quite vividly the colors of the illustrations. i really should find my local library and see if they have a copy. MAYBE THEY HAVE A STORY-TIME LIKE MY MOM USED TO GO TO AT THE BEXLEY LIBRARY!!!!

Memorial Day

I know that I am meant to spend the day reflecting on all of the veterans of American wars, and I'm definitely doing that. But I gotta be honest: I'm thinking mostly of my Uncle John, my mom's sister's husband, who is a JAG serving right now in Afghanistan. Much love to my Uncle John for choosing to serve his country, and to my Aunt Sissy for being a wonderful military wife, which my mom says takes a lot of love & patience. xxxoo
Go JAG! (is that even a thing to say?)

Teething sucks

Which is probably why we're not meant to remember it. Which begs the question of why I feel the need to blog about & therefore memorialize this horrid experience? So, I guess I won't go on. Bye for now.

I'm in training....

Mommy says that Aunt Rachel will know what game I'm in training for. Do you? (Hint: "Come on down!")

i met my cousin lucy!!

lucy was born about 3 months before her parents (aunt cara and uncle john) were married. oh, it's not as scandalous as it sounds--lucy is a beautiful olde english bull dogge, not a human baby. of course, she's just as important--she was the first granddaughter of my nonna and grandpa, and is loved as such. my mom told me that she & dad kept lucy at their MacArthur Blvd apartment when she was only 8 weeks old (proof below). from what i'm told, it was a challenge that my parents conquered gracefully and with much patience.

anyway, the photos above are from today, when i visited my aunt cara (or, aunt sissy), and met lucy, from the other side of the glass, but without flinching once while lucy slammed her body into the glass! i wasn't afraid, i just laughed. some people say that i'm "fearless." not sure what that means, but i'm certain that i don't get that from my dad.

rollin' with randolph

i may not have mentioned my pal randolph yet. randolph rat. a gift from my Ant Mimi, randolph rat and i were fast friends. he goes everywhere with me. it's insanely funny when i take him with me to restaurants. as a matter of fact, mom & dad decided that they were going to start chronicling randolph's whereabouts, so keep an eye and ear open for a future announcement of how to follow the Rat Around Town. anyway, here's a picture of me ready to go rolling while my mom runs on xzxzxz Creek Trail. me and randolph, of course.

beatin' to the rhythm of my (ant mimi's) drum

i was hanging out at my ant mimi's. she has tons of cool stuff, but on this day she pulled out her drum. i couldn't wait to get my hands on it!  word on the street is that i got rhythm.
