Medicaid is Us....

Lemme just tell you that nothing makes you feel more ghetto than going to the drs office when you have Medicare. Especially when they cancel your appt for "unexpected renovations," and you come to find that "renovations" was actually huge water damage issues... bc the doctors office is in the basement of a low-income condo building that had some major drainage issues. Sigh. 

Happy Fourth of July

Ma and I learned on CBS this Morning that the intention was always for our independence to be celebrated on July 2 (see Adams' letter to his wife Abigail dated July 3, 1776). We contend that we should, therefore, henceforth begin our celebrations on July 2 and continue through July 4. PROBLEM SOLVED.

Anyway, here I am thoroughly enjoying my first ever 4th of July parade. We were in Takoma Park, MD, a very artsy and creative/liberal community, and I had lots of fun watching the spectacle from my aunt/bubbie Riki's and uncle/grandpa Milan's front yard on the wonderful Carroll Street. (Picture followed by video.) *The nursery school referenced in the video is the local Takoma PArk nursery school, not my/my ma's preschool....

this was a WONDERFUL day! today i met kobelco. he and i will hopefully see each other quite often this summer as the water main is being repaired over by dennis ave and the creek. mom says that if the summer gets too hot, we won't see him too much. here's hoping for a cold front coming in! not only so i get to take walks (runs!) to see my new pal, but so that he doesn't bake in the heat--he's stored with no shade. next to all those huge trees, but no shade for kobelco.

Trying My Best to be a Good Sis

I am only 20 months old (2 in June), but Gary Pig is 4 years old and was considered by Ma to be her most precious baby... up until the moment I was brought into the home from the hospital.

Ma and Gary were super close from the day they met (there's a blog for that), and before I was born, they spent hours a day snuggling and playing. Ma thinks Gary knew she was knocked up even before she did, and she was pleased with how super cool he was with her expanding belly--Gary would actually burrow into her belly and get as close as he could to the fetus inside.

Well, anyway, this is Ma's favorite video of me bonding with Gary. I've always loved the kid, but learning how to be gentle has been a process.

me and liliah, way back when....

my mom and liliah's mom have been pals since college. there's lots of good stories there, i am sure, but their bond for life was pretty evident to me the moment that liliah and i met--there was an innate connection, i guess.  anyway, these photos are from way back in (i think) july--we both look so young! (and bald, ahem.)  anyway, i just wanted to post these old pics that i came across to let my dear pal in china know that i'm thinking about her. (and that my mom is thinking about her mom.)
